Lessons at Sewing with Grace are intended to introduce students to a wide variety of sewing techniques as well as creating a fun atmosphere of like minded kids & teens! Lessons are designed to grow with each individual’s skill level while working at their own pace. Students are provided with structure and instruction in class and encouraged to explore their creative freedom. Students will learn how to fully navigate their sewing machine, learn how to read a pattern, problem solve and make new friends! Projects vary but will include--Wall hangings, handbags, pillows, pajamas and more!
This is not just a project-driven class, but a skill-developing opportunity!
Students will need to provide their own sewing machine. However you may rent one from Sewing with Grace for $35/session (every 3 months). Pins, rulers, scissors and other necessary sewing items will be provided during class time. Students will need to supply their own Fabric + Notions.
May I stay with my child during class?
We make sure students stay focused with an instructor to guide them through all lessons. We feel when parents or guardians are present, children tend to be distracted and their attention is split. Their concentration and confidence level goes down. You are welcome to check in on your child but we suggest students take classes independently. If you feel strongly about staying with your child, you are welcome to sign up for the class and participate in the lessons!
Do you take breaks throughout the sewing school year?
Yes, we will always take a break in the month of December. Classes are scheduled around major holidays like July 4th, Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas. You can always access the sewing session calendar here
Do Boys attend sewing classes?
Yes! Boys love to sew! We have lots of projects for boys to enjoy including— bags, pillows, drawstring bags, winter hats and more! After completion of our list students are able to pick out their own patterns.
What is your refund policy?
Tuition and rentals are none refundable. There are no refunds, discounts or extra make-up days given to those who miss class. However, if the instructor is to miss class another day will be provided to make it up.
What if we have inclement weather?
We follow the CMS school schedule for snow days/inclement weather. If CMS cancels school, we will also have no class that day. This information will be announced on the Sewing with Grace Facebook page. You may also be contacted directly with this information, however, it is ultimately your responsibility to check the Facebook page for any class announcements. In the event we have to cancel a class due to inclement weather, unfortunately that class will not be able to be made up. We always have a make-up day at the end of each session.
What are makeup days?
Makeup days are one curtesy day at the end of our semester for those who miss a class. Makeup days are for your convenience only and are not a class day you pay for. Only one makeup day is offered, however If your student is unable to make it to their class's makeup day they may come to a different makeup day by request. In the rare event we have to cancel and refund our semester the makeup day will not be refunded whether your student has missed a class or not. Discounts, refunds or extra makeup days are not given to those who miss multiple classes.
